David Johns serves as both in-house Intellectual Property Law Counsel to W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc., where his commitments include leading its global trademark team, and of counsel to the Northern Arizona law firm of Aspey, Watkins & Diesel, PLLC, where his focus is on supporting the business and intellectual property law needs of start-up and growing businesses.
During David’s 30+ year tenure at Gore, he has helped launch, grow, and protect numerous new product lines, including Gore’s many life-saving implantable medical devices, GORE-TEX®, SITKA®, and GOREWEAR Clothing Products, GLIDE® Floss and ELIXIR® Guitar String businesses, and numerous other highly successful product lines.

To this end, David has volunteered his time extensively to help entrepreneurs find ways to protect their new business concepts and launch and grow new business ventures. David was an early supporter of the business incubator program in Flagstaff and coached a number of the early businesses coming out of the first incubator program, including Kahtoola, Inc.
David has served for many years on the Board of Directors of Moonshot, twice acting as the Secretary of the Board. David has also developed and provided training programs on ways that business concepts can be legal protected, served as an advisor and mentor for new business ventures, and participated as a volunteer coach and judge for Moonshot Pitch Events throughout Arizona.
David’s passion for supporting entrepreneurial businesses led him to join Aspey, Watkins & Diesel full time in 2023.
